Two highlights of this path include Lisbon's famous city square of Praça de Comercio, and Belem Square, both locations rich with history!

This bike tour follows along Libson's Atlantic coast, with fantastic sights of the ocean you won't want to miss.

With your bike hire you'll begin at the central train station called Alcantara-Terra. This way, you don't even have to find a shop to rent a bike, you can begin to explore as soon as you get off the train!

On your bike rental, you'll head to the coastal greenway that runs along Avenida 24 de Julio until you reach Parque das Nações. The greenway offers protection from the streets so you and riders like you can relax and enjoy a safer ride.

Distance Biking

Outside of Lisbon there are great options to take your bike rental on a longer journey. Weather your a drop down handle bar rider, or touring bike rider, Portugal is ideal for long distance biking with gorgeous weather, few big hills to climb, and many options for one day trips for any visitors.

Padrão dos descobrimentos - Doca de Alcantara

This route is 51 km and will take about five hours to accomplish with a touring bike rental.

Start in the Lisbon city center and bike along the greenway or "ciclovia Avenida" south towards Doca de Alcantara.

Continue strait to pass through the city neighbourhood of Belem, then finally exit off of the greenway onto the road once you reach Avenida Antonio Forlêncio de Santos in Caxai.

Once you are on the road, cycle north towards Massamá. You will encounter a few rolling hills, but no major climbs.
